My Missions and Evangelism committee is busy this winter. On the Local
front, St. John's Soup Kitchen tends to dominate our time and talent. I
even took a course on grant writing and now have three successes under
my belt:The most recent one was for $9,000 from a Main Line Church to
the Soup Kitchen. We have five families that pick up Starbucks pastries
and wrap them for the freezer. I deliver them to the Kitchen on
Saturdays and/or Tuesdays. There are at least two families that are
volunteering on Saturday mornings. Approximately ten families regularly
cook meals for the people in low income housing around where Grace and
Cecil Bean live in West Norritown. Moneys have been sent to the Kitchen
to replace the floor in the Social Hall where the clients eat their
meals. Wow! Our parishioners are great. Did you know that the Angel
Tree for Project Outreach had 100% of the gifts returned. This the
first time in eleven years that this has happened. Maybe you have some
new ideas concerning where the local time, talent, and treasures go in
the surrounding area. Please email me and share your concerns.
